About us

We started because the information wasn't good enough.

For too long, women have been handed vague answers, dismissed symptoms, and health advice built on research that mostly studied men. The Baseline exists to fix that starting point.

Our story

Every woman deserves a trustworthy baseline

The idea behind The Baseline is simple. Before you can make a good decision about your health, you need a reliable place to start — a baseline of clear, accurate knowledge you can build everything else on. Most women are never given one. They're left to assemble their understanding from rushed appointments, contradictory search results, and forums at midnight.

We think that's a solvable problem. There is a great deal that credible medical and public-health research already knows about women's bodies — about hormones and perimenopause, heart and bone health, mood and sleep, reproductive and pelvic health. The gap isn't always in the science. It's in the translation: turning what's known into something clear, honest, and genuinely usable by the woman living in the body.

That translation is our entire job. We read the research, we write in plain language, we work with licensed clinicians to check our work, and we hand it to you without jargon, shame, or a sales pitch attached.

Who we serve

We're built for women aged 27 to 65 in the United States — the decades when so much changes and so little is explained. Whether you're trying to understand your cycle, preparing for a first mammogram, navigating perimenopause, or simply wanting the basics done right, you should find something here that meets you exactly where you are.

What we believe

Four principles that guide everything we publish

01

Clarity is care

Confusing health information isn't neutral — it's harmful. If a woman can't understand it, it can't help her. We treat plain language as a form of respect.

02

No shame, ever

Menopause, pelvic health, weight, mood, libido, mental load — nothing here is embarrassing and nothing is off the table. Silence has cost women enough.

03

Honesty over hype

We cite our sources, we say plainly when the science is unsettled, and we never sell a "miracle" or a "cure." Trust is the only thing we can't afford to lose.

04

You are the expert on you

Our role is to give you information and better questions. The decisions are always yours, made with your own clinician who knows your history.

How we work

From research to something you can actually use

We research

We start from credible medical and public-health sources — not trends, not anecdotes.

We translate

We rewrite it in plain, warm language, stripping out jargon without losing accuracy.

We review

Licensed clinicians check our content for accuracy before it reaches you.

We point you onward

Every piece sends you back to your own provider for care that's specific to you.

Why this matters

The gap is real — and measurable

#1
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the US — yet it's still widely seen as a "men's" condition.
40s
Perimenopause commonly begins years before the last period, often without anyone explaining what's happening.
Every week
New, source-cited education published across our site and social channels — reliably, on the topics women ask about most.

Figures reflect widely reported US public-health findings and are shared for education. They are not a substitute for guidance from your clinician.

Our promise

We will never trade your trust for a quick sale

We're an education organization first. When we create a product or recommend something, it's because we genuinely believe it helps — and we'll always tell you plainly what we are (a starting point for understanding) and what we're not (a replacement for your doctor).
